The exhibition's opening reception will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 27 at the University Art Museum. The event is free and open to the public.

GASTONIA When a friend invited Lynn Jimison to join Gastonia's Altrusa Club for professional women a few years ago, she asked what it did.

Jimison signed up and began working with the Shoes For Kids project, which runs from shortly before Thanksgiving through New Year's.
